Importer of Fine Handmade Tibetan Rugs

Tibetan rug weaving is a tradition passed down through many generations. The craft originated in Tibet but many Tibetans, now exiled from their homeland, carry on the tradition in Nepal using the original Tibetan processes and designs.

Our handmade Tibetan rugs are made from the finest Himalayan wool and traditional natural dyes. The wool is hand-carded, hand-spun, and hand-woven on vertical looms. At 100 knots per square inch, a six by nine foot rug has nearly 800,000 hand-tied, hand-cut knots, and can take up to six months to complete.

The wool is rich in lanolin which resists stains and wear. These works of art are incredibly durable and will retain their beauty and color for years.

Nepal is a country of dramatic beauty and ancient cultural traditions. In Tibetan rugs we see a reflection of the culture and history of an inspiring land and people.

Nepal is also a land of great poverty and a struggling economy. Much of the profits from sales of our rugs goes directly back to the people of Nepal through the operations of Ten Friends, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the people of Nepal.
